#TBT - Winter Storms

With winter in full effect, let’s enjoy historic footage of a snow storm in the Sebald family got caught in circa 1927.

Footage is of a snow storm in Berea, Kentucky, in circa 1927. It includes shots of the Union Church, 200 Prospect Street, as seen from in front of the Boone Tavern - present day Historic Boone Tavern Hotel and Restaurant, 100 South Main Street; snow covered streets and cars; snow being plowed from the streets; and the Kentucky River (possibly seen from the area around the present day Clays Ferry Interstate Bridge).

Original footage was filmed by the Raymond Edward Sebald family and was donated to the MidPointe Library in 2021. Most footage is of the daily lives of Raymond E. Sebald family and vacation footage from the early 1930s. An attempt to identify the places and groups, as they would have been considered at the time of filming, has been made. Individual persons, unless unidentified by the film, have not been identified out of respect for privacy.
