If your kids don’t like poetry, don’t despair.
We’ve got a remedy, so quit pulling your hair!
Tell them they’re right : poems are a big bore.
Then pull out this book and agree some more.
“Here’s the book you should read instead...
It’s called ‘No More Poems!’ Yes, that’s what I just said!”
With mouths agape and eyes like saucers
they’ll grab this rare book like big fans of Chaucer.
You’ll say: “I found it at MidPointe, just for you….”
but before you can finish away they’ll skiddoo….
onto the couch, where they’ll roar with laughter
‘cause these hilarious lines are just what they are after.
Coffee in hand, you’ll relax in the yard….
Thank goodness you found your old library card!
It’s “Children’s Poetry Day” according to the popular website, The Teachers Corner.*
At MidPointe Library we offer poetry for all ages! Even if your kids aren’t big fans they’ll probably love the new and hilarious “No More Poems! A Book In Verse that Just Gets Worse” by Rhett Miller with illustrations by Dan Santat.
