#TriviaTuesday - What piece of jewelry is given to OSU players and coaches upon defeating Michigan?

Although the Ohio State Buckeyes won’t meet their arch-rivals, the Michigan State Wolverines, in today’s Rose Bowl match-up in Pasadena, California (they vie against the Washington Huskies), we ask a Wolverine-related question in today’s “Trivia Tuesday”:

Question: What piece of jewelry is given to OSU players and coaches upon defeating Michigan?

Answer: A gold charm representing a pair of football pants.

According to the Ohio State Buckeyes website, the charming tradition began in 1934 “when first-year coach Francis Schmidt told those wondering how OSU would fare with its nemesis from Ann Arbor :

“‘They put their pants on one leg at a time just like everybody else,” he declared.

The Buckeyes then proceeded to defeat Michigan “four consecutive times, all by shutout.”
