As we settle into the new school year, we enjoy to joke about parents everywhere collectively sighing with relief. After spending all summer with your kids, they are now being housed and watched over by your local school staff, being taught another round of fresh knowledge. While you might be stressing over collecting your child’s required school supplies, take a moment to realize that you don’t have it as hard as witch or wizard parents.
What do we mean? Here is a list of everything a wizard student was required to have upon arriving for their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry – at least in the 1990’s and purely speculated of course what would us muggles know really?:

With the 2017 semester starting for Hogwarts today, September 1st, Harry and Ginny Potter are sending their 11 year-old son Albus Severus Potter to his first year. Let’s all take a moment to raise our wands for the Potter’s bank account. Also, can you imagine how the Weasely family felt?!
