Welcome October!

Welcome to October my MidPointe friends!

I absolutely love October, and personally have been celebrating Halloween since before October 1st, but in polite company that is not always acceptable. However its October now, and I can shamelessly eat candy corn and caramel apple suckers at my desk, wear my skull leggings around work, and watch nothing but Disney’s Hocus Pocus on repeat. I honestly do this year round, but there is just something about being able to partake in them during the month of October that makes life good. If you are like me, you love hearing scary stories. Like love-love. You love reading stories that give you chills. You love stories that are not just scary, but unsettling, or eerie, or oh-so interesting that you can’t get enough of them. If you are like me, then I may just have a fantastic Halloween season treat for you!

While 2017 has brought on a lot of new things for myself personally, one thing that I have introduced into my weekly routine has been listening to a number of podcasts. Early this year, as winter began to thaw into spring, I discovered the podcast called “Lore” by author Aaron Mahnke. Bear with me as I try to reign my enthusiasm in as I write this blog. Believe you me, I could go on for hours. P.S. "Lore" proved to be the best mood setter for my recent road trip in the night to Waverly Hills Sanatorium for a midnight ghost tour.

Anyway! Here is my quick recommendation for this fantastic podcast!

“Lore” is a bi-weekly podcast that has been around for over two years now, and if you have never heard of it before, you may just be hearing about it more soon. There are 70 episodes already published, so you have plenty to sink your teeth into. “Lore’s” tagline says it all: Because sometimes the truth is more frightening than fiction. The topics of body-snatchers, witches, and goblins are so ingrained into our lives as myths, that we have forgotten their roots in truth. Aaron Mahnke weaves together true life stories, giving you a look into the human mind and character. He has covered everything from the famous horror staples of vampires, werewolves, and ghosts, to lesser known legends that may have escaped our attention.

Aaron Mahnke is a very busy man. Not only does he have an award-winning podcast, he also has multiple horror novels available. His newest, The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures, comes out this week! (I’m already on hold for my copy!) Mahnke tours the country, speaking with fans and telling them stories in fun and frightening live shows, but that’s still not all he has going on. He has a new adventure around the corner. Episodes of his podcast have been brought to life in an Amazon Prime exclusive show airing October 13th. That’s Friday the 13th, if you weren’t yet aware. (Isn't that perfection?!)

So, if you are in fact like me, check his work out. I know you will enjoy it.
